The Year After: Season 1
Light & Wire
November 14 – December 11, 2013
The exhibition consists of a collection of nine short films, each under five minutes in length, that focus on the office environment as a place of daily interaction, conflict, and drama. Each scene portrays a series of characters made from cardboard boxes and everyday materials. In each scene these idiosyncratic characters encounter minor occurrences that are exasperated by the banality of the everyday activity that surrounds them. Pescador performs as well an animates each of the puppets, shifting back forth between voices and characters. The Year After: Season 1 is presented in chronological order, mimicking the repetitive structure of sitcom television. Within this format, conflicts occur and are resolved by the end of each episode, providing a sense of humor and comfort in its familiarity.
