Situating
ForYourArt
June 9, 2012
ForYourArt is pleased to present Situating a solo, durational performance by Pau S. Pescador. Situating is based on four previous performance events that Pescador curated: Situating Ourselves with Them at Five Thirty Three (May ’10), Crying over Spilled Milk at Human Resources (October ’10), My Body Lies over the Ocean at Los Angeles Contemporary Art Fair (January ‘11), and What Have I Done to Deserve This at Workspace (October ’11). For all of these events, Pescador asked three to six artists to perform simultaneously in a small space over the course of two to four hours.
At ForyourArt, Pescador is presenting a ten hour performance in which he alone will reenact moments from these four previous events. He will re-stage each of them in chronological order using the pervious performances as a basis. Situating will consist of an installation of objects and a four-part film. The same objects will appear both in the space and in the film, having been taken altered dramatically between mediums. Through the repetition of materials, the project deals with the absorbing, reusing, and cannibalizing of an artistic practice as a means of generating new work.
The film Situating is a four-part film, each part will screen once during the event.
